CASE -- Camping Industry Exchange between EU and China
2006-9-12 20:17:03   RVing China

CASE – EU-China Matchmaking for Camping Facilities and Services is a project that has as its purpose to establish a basis for a future business co-operation between European and Chinese camping organizations as well as bringing European technologies and standards related to camping into China.

Europe has a long-term experience in developing camping facilities, services, and camping industry. Through CASE, Chinese camping community will learn from European know-how for the establishment of a new dimension in Chinese leisure life: Camping.

In this sense CASE will open a new business sector and a new market in China for European industry and Chinese investors, and strengthen mutual trade and investment flows between Europe and China in all camping related sectors.

In order to organize and coordinate the works it is necessary to establish a Camping Co-operation Forum, and the members will be about 60 European and 60 Chinese organisations that are somehow already active in the camping related fields.

This forum is going to work during and beyond the 2 year lifetime of CASE in order to secure a long-term EU-China co-operation around the camping project.

Members of the Forum must be interested in exchanging experience and in discussing potential co-operation in camping related fields, and they will be asked to take part in the work as official or professional in China and/or Europe (e.g. authorities, camping service operators, architects, land use  planners, construction companies, camp equipment providers, caravan and mobile home providers/ manufacturers etc.)

2 matchmaking seminars are planned to bring together the members of the so called Target Groups.

A. Seminar I

The first one is going to be held in Europe (Nov.27th - Dec.03rd  2006), and the major activities will be “face-to-face” meetings with European partners, visits to camping related industries, visits to German and Danish campsites, and a number of important ad hoc discussions among the delegates. This seminar will involve about 60 European and 24 Chinese participating companies. In connection to the seminar Chinese companies will be offered technical visits to selected European companies, representing different aspects of camping business.

In order to fulfil the expectations of the Chinese delegation – and the future Chinese campers – there will also be time to introduce Chinese policy objectives and strategies as well as presentation and demonstration of European best practices (experience, technologies and standards on location) concerning planning, establishing, and operating of camping services.

The European experts connected to the programme will be present and available during the whole seminar.

B. Seminar II

The 2nd Seminar is going to take place in Beijing, China (15th-21st Oct. 2007).

This time more than 60 Chinese and about 40 European companies are supposed to be present.

Like Seminar I: Again “face-to-face” meetings between European and Chinese companies and technical visits will be arranged, and also technical visits to Beijing companies.

According to the modern European standards for campsite establishment a complete preparation   for the model campsite in Beijing will be introduced to the group.

At this stage partnership agreements among the participating companies should be organized and arranged.

This is also the stage where future marketing procedure for the Chinese camping should be discussed and prepared: How to cover the domestic market – how to define the potential market for tourists from abroad? – Which countries/tourism fairs are to be “cultivated”?

- And how is China going to introduce itself to the potential guest? – How are the Chinese attractions and guest activities described?
