MOSQUITO DELETO 2500 ACTIVE SYSTEM FACT SHEET

Captures and kills mosquitoes

Designed for backyard use, the Coleman® Mosquito Deleto™ System runs continuously to attract and kill mosquitoes. The system captures female mosquitoes when they are most active and seeking a host on which to feed, often at dusk and dawn. It should be activated and remain on around the clock during mosquito season, from late spring through fall.

Because the Mosquito Deleto™ System kills breeding females the mosquito population, over time, will be reduced significantly and ultimately the egg stock piles in the soil will collapse, resulting in smaller and smaller mosquito “blooms” following rains.

 How It Works

  • Coleman’s newest Mosquito Deleto product is an active system, luring female mosquitoes to the unit, then sucking them via a vacuum into a capture jar. The capture jar contains a capture net, which is easily removed to dispose of mosquitoes, then replaced.
  • A combination of carbon dioxide, special scent and heat is used to attract mosquitoes. The plume of attractant emanates from near the base of the unit. The CO2 serves as a powerful attractant to mosquitoes and pulls them from long range. The special scent released by the Octenol Lure Cartridge helps mosquitoes home in on this would-be mammal target upon which they intend to prey. The mild, mammal-like heat and color contrast of the Mosquito Deleto unit also help draw mosquitoes even closer until they are vacuumed into the capture jar.
  • The system requires no electrical cords, so it can be placed strategically in the most efficient location in the yard without reliance upon electric outlets. A full 20-pound propane tank, which is not included, will power the unit for approximately three weeks.
  • A flameless, silent catalytic burner generates the CO2 and heat produced by the Mosquito Deleto™ 2500 Active System. That heat travels through a thermoelectric module array, which generates the electricity needed to run the vacuum system, before it is expelled to help attract mosquitoes.
  • The system is designed to catch mosquitoes, although it will also catch midges in some regions.

Product Features

  • Providing protection for continuous use, the SmartBlock™ safety feature monitors the system and will automatically shut off the propane if the catalytic combustion ever stops.
  • An LED indicator light shows if the unit is operating. If the light is not on, it indicates the unit has shut off and is likely out of fuel.
  • A Piezo-style igniter provides convenient, push-button lighting for the flameless catalytic burner.
  • Large wheels and a handle allow the unit to be easily moved into position in the yard.
  • The easy-to-install Octenol Lure Cartridges should be replaced monthly. The cartridges’ unique design provides consistent performance throughout the month.
  • Suggested retail price for the Mosquito Deleto 2500 Active System, which is available only at Lowe’s, is $349.

About Mosquitoes

  • Female mosquitoes are the biting mosquitoes, seeking a warm-blooded host. Each female mosquito that is captured represents from 300 to 1,200 eggs that will not be laid. Although eggs can hatch almost immediately, they may also lay dormant for several years before rains and other conditions cause them to hatch.
  • Mosquito populations are dynamic, which is to say they vary given certain local conditions such as recent rains and high water that can trigger a “bloom” or new hatch of mosquitoes that have been dormant.
